Klinik und Poliklinik für Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie der Universität Würzburg
The history of the treatment of psychiatric diseases has a long tradition in Würzburg.
Long before the Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the University Würzburg existed, people with mental diseases were treated in Würzburg.
A chair for Psychiatry has existed since 1863 and so Würzburg was one of the first cities where Psychiatry was systematically taught. More than 100 years research in this field has been going on. The Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the University Würzburg was founded in 1893.
The Clinic deals with every kind of psychiatric pathology in Würzburg and its surroundings. It comprises 144 beds of full time hospitalisation. The 144 beds are divided into 32 intensive, 80 general-psychiatric, 17 psychotherapeutic and 15 addiction medicinal treatment places. Additionally a day clinic comprises 17 places.
