Given the fact that persons who have attempted suicide in the past are more likely to attempt suicide again, various activities are being organized in the framework of EAAD addressing high-risk groups to provide an easy and less bureaucratic access to professional help.
Emergency cards (dimensions of a checque card) are handed out to persons after suicide attempt pointing out the next steps to take in case of acute crisis and indicating important telephone numbers of local help offers.
Collaborations with existing crisis hotlines are being established for people dealing with suicidal problems offering direct contact to specialists.
Psycho-education sessions are being organised for persons affected and their family members and stress management trainings have been initiated for persons at risk to get into a crisis.
Special information material (e.g. leaflets for people who are bereaved, brochures for survivors of suicidal persons) offering concrete advice and help are being distributed. Additionally, regional EAAD websites are continuously being updated concerning information on local help offers and contact persons.
