A set of information and working material (video tapes, patient files) has been developed which is being distributed among primary care doctors:
Structured patient files and educational videos are being provided to GPs to support the decision making concerning the diagnosis and treatment of depressive patients in their practice. The WHO-5-Well-being-Questionnaire is being recommended to GPs as a screening instrument that facilitates the detection of depression.
Two further video tapes appealing to persons affected and their relatives are being passed on to GPs to be handed over to patients. They are designed to provide information about the disease and its treatment. One video informs the patients and their relatives on depression, causes and therapy. It aims to supports the GP in the education of the patient. The other video describes two stories of concerned persons who struggle with their disease and dearch for a life without depression.
