EAAD opening ceremony in Tallinn, 06 May 2005
Dear collegues,
the opening ceremony was extremely successful. We rented theatre with 400 seats in parter + balconi, we invited GPs, 2-3 teachers from each school, 15 from police, 10 from military service. People who got know about the event called and asked to join. Theatre was full. High officials of the ministeriums in charge with our target groups were present.

In the 1st part I made introduction telling that we are searching for further collaboration, particularly to get those who would like to be trained for trainers in their field, that we like to have different approch to the teaching methodology and to deal also with MH promotion as it was stressed in Helsinki declaration 2005, not only with prevention, treatment, rehabilitation. Also I informed about the international laughing day, the 1st sunday of May etc. During gathering of the audience contagiously laughing faces rotated on the large screen, 7'' each, and music. Then I had a short presentation about stress-related deaths comparing Baltics, Russia, Nordic countries and 'old' EU (before 1st of May 2004), Kairi Kõlves presented "Epiemiology of suicidality and depression', Merike Sisask gave overview about the EAAD, Prof Pork told about burnout.
After lunch well-known and admired in Estonia salesman (educated for business in States and studying psychology in France), who takes usually extremely high honorar (came free of charge to our event) for his trainings, man with hypnotic power, had taken 2,5 hours without brake (some minutes gymnastics only) telling how to teach even serious topic so that it is for fun and how to take care of oneself, how to live with joy, without depression. He was doing with people what he wanted in spite of it that the audience was taph: physicians, teachers, military, police.

Then actor and stage producer came for 1 hour. Shortly, he told how body helps (showing, what was very funny) to have good mood and to capture self-confidence. He is intelligent young man and his show was performed with respect to good manners.
People were pleased, in good mood, nobody left earlier, many of them came to thank and comments were given during the next days by mail, phone, meeting people occasionally, what was not usual for Estonians.
Best regards,
Airi
