Advanced training courses

One of the main focuses of the EAAD is the education of community multipliers on the topics depression and suicidality.

Educational packages for various groups of community facilitators (e. g. geriatric nurses, teachers, priests) have been developed in the framework of EAAD. The packages include different pools of presentation-slides, manuals and guidelines for the presenters and specifications of the different target groups concerning their basic standard of knowledge on the topic.

Additionally, different kinds of informational material for affected persons (e. g. brochures, video tapes, CD-ROMs and DVDs) have been prepared. These materials are distributed among the seminar participants in terms of “give-aways” that they can hand over to persons affected they are in contact with.

The basic courses have been adapted to specific target groups by several EAAD partner, e.g. Estonia (training courses for military, school and social workers in Estonia)

Further, the EAAD adopted the concept of train-the-trainer workshops from the German Alliance Against Depression. In this workshops, mental health experts are being prepared as future trainers for the education of community multipliers with “non-therapeutical” origin.
