Mental Health First Aid

MHFA - a national non-profit organization in Australia

Learning about how to provide first aid is common practice in many countries. In Germany, for instance, completing a course is one of the requirements to obtain a driver’s license. However, these courses focus on physical injuries and little attention is given to mental health. This is why Professor Tony Jorm and his wife Betty Kitchener have founded “Mental Health First Aid Australia (MHFA Australia)” in 2000. MHFA is a national non-profit organization providing a variety of training programs, materials and guidelines on how to instruct and educate the general public.
