Based on an educational concept that was developed within the initial Nuremberg project, the EAAD network developed a concept of a basic course to train general practitioners (GPs). The course includes thematic modules that address various aspects like epidemiological aspects, symptoms and diagnostic criteria, neurobiological basics, treatment with antidepressants and counselling strategies, exploration and handling of acute suicidality.
The concept of the basic four-hour training course for GPs has been varied by several EAAD partners, e.g. Ireland and Estonia.
